Strategy Development Executive – Tanzania

Role : Strategy Development Executive

Location: : Dar-es-Salaam

 

Role:

To assist the Managing Director and the Board of Directors in the development of a comprehensive group strategy for the Karimjee Group

 

To conduct appropriate country and industry analysis to support the group strategy

 

To develop business unit strategies for the priority business units identified in the group strategy

 

Key activities:

Economic analysis

  • Analysis of Tanzanian economy and identification of priority segments with growth potential
  • Comparison of Tanzanian economy with other developing economies (Africa/Asia/Latin America) to identify expected trends from development path of other economies

Industry analysis

  • Identifying industries with potential for superior returns, primarily in Tanzania but also in other geographies where the group can use in-house skills to create competitive advantage

 

Market entry strategies

  • Identifying appropriate market entry strategies for the priority industries selected by the Board
  • acquisition opportunities
  • joint venture partners
  • licensing
  • franchising

Expert in  Financial Modelling

  • Projecting revenue, costs, profits and taxation
  • Projecting cash flow
  • Applying performance metrics such as required rate of return, project IRR for different industries

Strategy implementation

  • Identifying suitable targets
  • Analysing alternative deal structures
  • Preparing implementation plans for selected transactions
  • Identifying risk factors such as financial, market, currency, counter party risks and also determining the Group’s risk appetite

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience, including 5 years of extensive business development and/or relevant product experience,
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects with competing demands for resources; detail-oriented.
  • Experience in managing and growing business relationships.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to interact cross-functionally at all organizational levels and externally with business associates and clients, including exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Must excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
  • Excellent strategic and creative thinking, with particular emphasis on evaluating new opportunities and changing marketplace
  • Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent
  • Ability to provide guidance on strategy for developing, offering or acquiring potential businesses
  • Business acumen and ability to read and synthesize various reports
  • Establishes and builds strategic relationships with internal partners as well as executives from potential and established partners.
  • Evaluates complex business development and revenue driving projects in new and emerging markets

Required
Experience:

MBA from leading institution
Multi-year experience in leading advisory firm
Corporate business development in $200m organisation
