Education& Skills :
- Sc or B.Sc preferably in Agriculture
- Quality assurance; Food Safety (HACCP), Food Technology; Inspection; Agriculture
Experience :
- Minimum 10years’ experience in Rice industry in Quality and Procurement and Well conversant with the Quality Management Systems.
Job Specification:
Scope :
Managing the quality of the paddy during procurement and in the warehouses during storage will be critical to the efficiency of the rice mill. Further, the paddy is of homogeneous quality during procurement and delivery at the factory gate. We need a QC expert who can ensure that the quality of paddy being procured is as per the specified specs and can identify variations and discounts accordingly.
Job Specific Comments :
Managing paddy quality:
- Implement QC systems at the factory for accepting paddy.
- Specify maximum & minimum quality parameters for paddy. Specify premiums / discounts for deviations from ideal specs.
- Setting up systems at procurement points to ensure the above. Train the procurement team on paddy quality and acceptance.
- Implement systems for grading and segregating paddy basis quality and for storage in the warehouses.
- Maintain paddy quality while storage – implement systems to ensure paddy quality and grading is maintained during the storage period.
- Implement QC systems for paddy acceptance at the factory gate and at the warehouse during storage & issue of paddy to factory for processing.
- Work with the factory manager to blend various grades of paddy to achieve an ideal grade for processing in the factory.
Managing the QC Lab and WIP quality:
- Set up quality monitoring systems and sampling parameters for WIP at parboiling, milling, WIP storage & packing.
- Monitor finished goods quality and maintain integrity during storage.
- Implement systems and processes to manage end to end quality (Paddy at procurement point – rice dispatched for sales)
- Train the procurement and sales teams on managing and maintaining quality.
Others:
- Work with the plant manager to document quality of paddy procured (lot wise, input batch wise, link to out turns and finished goods quality & quantity).
- Develop and Lead a team to ensure quality of paddy at each link in the supply chain.
- May also have the opportunity to participate in procurement of other grains and develop a broader experience and knowledge base.
